November is such a busy month for most Americans. Many of us take the time to stop and honor, remember, and thank our military veterans and their families during the first holiday of the month: Veterans Day. Because the team at American Virtue has so many military family members, 11/11/11 was a very important day for us. We were honored to have author Tricia Goyer take the time to share a very special guest post on our blog, Taking the Hill. If you missed Tricia's post, do swing by the blog and give it a read. I hope you enjoy her story as much as we did here at American Virtue!
Now we're heading into the week of Thanksgiving. While the media normally focuses on Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, we'd like to take a moment to point you toward a new event next weekend: Small Business Saturday (R). This is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year. American Virtue is, of course, a small business entity ourselves. We would love to hear your stories of how you choose to support small businesses local to you on November 26th!

Has fall weather reached your area? Are you already looking at snow or does autumn simply mean a slight break in hot, humid weather? No matter what the weather, most of America is stocking up the pantry and planning menus for the holidays coming these next few months. This is the perfect time for us to review what's in our pantries, rotate out items that need to be replaced, and replace them before winter hits. This period of preparing and planning is also the perfect time for us to share our largesse with those in need.

As you know, September 2011 marked the ten year anniversary of the tragic 9/11 attacks of 2001. AmViMag had the opportunity to host a very special 9/11 Remembrance Project on our blog, Taking the Hill. Multiple readers were kind enough to share their memories of that fateful day in guest entries on the blog during the week of the 9/11 anniversary. We wish to express our thanks, once again, to all those who participated and to those of you who shared about the effort via your social media pages. If you missed the posts, you can read them by clicking through the Taking the Hill link or the 9/11 Remembrance Project link in the right sidebar.
